Statement<\/span> (Version fran\u00e7aise ci-dessous)<\/span><\/p>\n This year’s International Women’s Day has been dedicated by the UN to the topic “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”. On this occasion, the governments of member states are invited to make specific commitments to put an end to gender inequality through a series of new measures ranging from legislation and policy, to appropriate action plans and investments on a national basis.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the European Association for the Defence of Human Rights (AEDH) addressing gender inequality is strategic for the defence and the promotion of the rights for everyone and everywhere in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n As of 1995, the Beijing Declaration made the rationale of the pursuit of gender equality clear: it is “not only a demand for simple justice or democracy but can also be seen as a necessary condition for women’s interests to be taken into account”. [1]<\/span><\/p>\n In reality, there is still a long way to go. If one takes as an example of the composition of the governments of the 28 EU member states today, only for the governments of Sweden, France and Slovenia is the rate of 50 % reached. 7 member states have attained 30 %. On the other hand, in Hungary the 12 ministers are all men. In Malta and the Czech Republic, only one of 17 ministers is female.<\/span><\/p>\n Some days ago, during a debate in the European Parliament on gender pay gap, standing at an average of 16,7 % in the European Union, [2] a Member of Parliament argued that “women must earn less than men because they are weaker, smaller and less intelligent!” [3]<\/span><\/p>\n Is this free, confident speech, where someone feels empowered to publicly declare such comments, a sign of times to come, where women’s rights have become a target? The answer is yes and it must be opposed.<\/span><\/p>\n AEDH expects the relevant authorities of the European Parliament to use all the means at their disposal to sanction the author of these remarks. AEDH wishes that the effort towards a greater equality between women and men all available means, EU regulations and directives, national legislation and action programmes, becomes a strong European ambition.<\/span><\/p>\n [1] Bejing Declaration, 1995: http:\/\/beijing20.unwomen.org\/~\/media\/headquarters\/attachments\/sections\/csw\/pfa_e_final_web.pdf.<\/span> FOR MORE INFORMATION<\/span><\/p>\n The European Association for the Defense of Human Rights (AEDH) brings together the leagues and associations for the protection of human rights in the countries of the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n ======================================<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Oui, les droits des femmes sont d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment d’actualit\u00e9 !<\/span><\/p>\n D\u00e9claration<\/span> La Journ\u00e9e internationale des femmes de ce mercredi 8 mars 2017 est consacr\u00e9e cette ann\u00e9e par l’ONU sur le th\u00e8me \u00ab Les femmes dans un monde du travail en \u00e9volution : une plan\u00e8te 50 – 50 d’ici \u00e0 2030 \u00bb. \u00c0 cette occasion, les gouvernements des \u00c9tats membres sont invit\u00e9s \u00e0 prendre des engagements pour mettre fin \u00e0 l’in\u00e9galit\u00e9 de genre \u00e0 travers un ensemble de mesures allant des lois et des politiques jusqu’\u00e0 des plans d’action et des investissements appropri\u00e9s dans un cadre national.<\/span><\/p>\n L’Association europ\u00e9enne pour la d\u00e9fense des Droits de l’Homme (AEDH) consid\u00e8re que le combat contre les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s entre les femmes et les hommes est strat\u00e9gique pour la d\u00e9fense et la promotion de tous les droits, pour toutes et tous, et partout dans le monde.<\/span><\/p>\n D\u00e8s 1995, la D\u00e9claration de Beijing exposait clairement le fondement de cette recherche de l’\u00e9galit\u00e9 de genre : elle \u00ab n’est pas seulement une simple question de justice et de d\u00e9mocratie : on peut y voir aussi une condition n\u00e9cessaire pour que les int\u00e9r\u00eats des femmes soient pris en consid\u00e9ration \u00bb. [1]<\/span><\/p>\n En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, on est tr\u00e8s loin du compte. Si nous prenons comme exemple la composition des gouvernements des 28 \u00c9tats membres de l’UE aujourd’hui, seulement dans les gouvernements de la Su\u00e8de, de la France et de la Slov\u00e9nie, le taux atteint est de 50 %. 7 \u00c9tats membres ont atteint 30 %. En revanche, en Hongrie, les 12 ministres sont tous des hommes. \u00c0 Malte et dans la R\u00e9publique Tch\u00e8que, il y a seulement une femme ministre pour 17 minist\u00e8res.<\/span><\/p>\n Il y a quelques jours au Parlement europ\u00e9en dans un d\u00e9bat sur l’\u00e9cart salarial, qui est de 16,7 % en moyenne dans l’Union europ\u00e9enne [2] , nous avons pu entendre un d\u00e9put\u00e9 europ\u00e9en soutenir que \u00ab les femmes devraient gagner moins \u00e9tant plus faibles, plus petites et moins intelligentes \u00bb ! [3]<\/span><\/p>\n Cette parole lib\u00e9r\u00e9e, dite d\u00e9complex\u00e9e, c’est-\u00e0-dire que quelqu’un peut se sentir autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 les prononcer publiquement, est-elle le signe de nouveaux temps, dans lesquels les droits des femmes sont devenus une cible identitaire? La r\u00e9ponse est oui et elle doit \u00eatre combattue.<\/span><\/p>\n L’AEDH attend des autorit\u00e9s du Parlement europ\u00e9en qu’elles engagent des sanctions contre l’auteur des propos.
